You may want to check out "The Consumer Guide to Home Energy Savings" published by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. This guide comes complete with charts that allow you to calculate economical savings and energy efficiency that will accompany various systems.

The U.S.Department of Energy, Energy  Efficiency & Renewable Energy website offers savings tips, and information on rebates, tax credits, and financing for business and home owners.

They also publish in PDF an Energy Savers Booklet.
